John D. Chang Foundation

In  2004,  due to the generosity of family members
and friends, $5,000 in scholarshipswas awarded.  In 2005, we will be awarding scholarships to students in John’s hometown of Dallas/Fort Worth. The Foundation is also offering a seminar called the "American Dream Workshop" will show students and families in America anything is possible when we put our minds to it, give them hope and encourage them to achieve their dreams through higher education and consequently enjoying a better life.             

        John Chang graduated from Florida State University in 1985. He received financial aid and worked his way through college. Who was able to accomplish what he did despite his social disadvantages. Dallas Cowboys renamed their Broadcasting wing to
"John Chang Broadcasting Wing".

The first "John Chang Award of Excellence" was awarded to Bruce Hardy V.P and General Manager of Texas Stadium on September 23, 2004. the Award will be presented annually to a Dallas Cowboys Department Head who displays the character and qualities that we all loved and admired in John Chang: teamwork, dependability, production, creativity, accountability, unselfishness and respect and love for fellow employees and make a dynamic contribution to the Dallas Cowboys.*

                Remember the Giants/Cowboys game on December 15, 2002 in New York, right before the second-half, on television they showed a picture of John and announced his passing. One of Peter’s (John’s twin brother) co-worker told him that he was at that game and the public address announcer asked for a minute of silence in honor of John and his picture was on the JUMBOTRON (Big television screen at the stadium). When I heard that it made me really proud of John and amazed how he made such an impact that they would stp the entire game and in front of 70,000 fans to honor him.
